Will we finally get a grip on global warming and live harmoniously with nature? Will the negative effects of climate change force us to live in places that are drastically different from where we live now. It's all about the houses and where we choose to build them. In these pictures, I imagine that we build our villages in trees, under the ocean, on islands, and even suspended from hot air balloons. Some of these places look like fun places to live... some look extremely precarious.
Long time patrons may recognize some of the images in this series. They are among my favorite pictures. I originally painted them over ten years ago. Many of them are sold out in their print runs. I decided to take another look at these iconic compositions that I love so much and actually "repaint" them. So, these are new versions of the same compositions, painted in a completely different style. Ten years ago I was painting in a very tight, realistic style in high resolution. I used tiny paint brushes on my digital canvases. In this series, I revisited the same compositions, but repainted them in a loose, more vigorous style. I wanted these new paintings to be more "expressive" and more "immediate," to more fully dramatize humanity's future in an unpredictable world. I like these new paintings. But... it's for you to judge, not me. What do you think?
